Movement and Stillness

A 6 day Yoga Retreat with Ziva Kinrot

This autumn, Ziva Kinrot will be hosting the “movement and stillness” retreat at the “I TRE SANTI”, Seminar House in Tuscany, Italy. This retreat welcomes both new and more experienced practitioners. It offers practice time, discussion and personal space away from day to day involvements.

Patanjali, the most ancient and original of the narrators of Yoga Teachings, defines yoga as the containment of the mind’s activities: “YOGAH CITTA VRITTI NIRODHAH”, or the linking of the movement of the mind with ‘that’ from which stillness emanates. How do we as students, beginning or deepening our journey within Yoga, relate with and experience these concepts through our practice and study?

The retreat will be an exploration into Movement and Stillness within the body in Asana, Breath, in Pranayama, and in Voice through chanting and observing the mind through meditation and reflection. We aim to deepen our relationship with the Yoga Sutra of Patanjali, This year the focus will be on chapter one with further retreats in the coming years.

The programme is open to all students and teachers who, irrespective of experience, wish to deepen their practice and study within a setting which offers space for commitment and inquiry into the ways in which Yoga can assist growth and transformation in our everyday lives and actions.

Practice will be offered respecting the spirit of Viniyoga and the student’s level of experience and each individual’s personal practice capacity will be consideredin the formation of appropriate practice groups.

Schedule

Arrival is until 16:00 on the first day, to have time to unpack, explore and settle in and meet with Ziva. Dinner is with the group on the first night, afterwards there is a welcome talk with everyone. The retreat starts on the next morning:

  • 08:00 – 09:00 Breakfast
  • 09:15 – 12:00 Yoga Practice
  • 12:00-13:00 individual tuition (every day a different person)
  • 13:00-15:00 Lunch & Break
  • 15:00-17:30 Core Concept Of Yoga Practice, Observation, Seated Breathing Practice
  • 17:30-18:30 Individual Tuition (every day a different person)
  • 19:00-20:00 Dinner
  • 20:00-21:00 night meditation, open talk
